History
In January 1960 a team of experts from the State Institute for Design of Metallurgical Plants (Gipromez) was set up. It included professionals trained in military and post-war reconstruction of steel plants to be engaged in designing, supervising and promptly solving the construction issues of NLMK plant.
With the increase in the amount of work, it became necessary to create a static master layout. In 1961, three sketch boards of the areas around blast furnaces No. 1, 2, 3 that were in design at that time and the first two rolling and EAF shops.
Group of electricians was increased. It is entrusted to conduct independently such objects as charging stations and transformer-oil farms of plants in all parts for NLMZ and foreign objects of the enterprises of Iran, Turkey, India. During this period the complex electrotechnical Department including specialists of instrumentation and automation, communication and the alarm system is created.
In 1963 technological groups of metallurgy equipment were created in Lipetsk team of Gipromez.
The projects for NLMK's BOF and blast furnace operations were completed as well as the projects for Svobodny Sokol and West-Siberia steel plant.
The design for the West Siberian metallurgical plant, as well as for a number of NLMK facilities in blast furnace, Converter and rolling industries, has been carried out.
There were 150 employees.
Following projects were carried out: sinter plant, blast furnace shop No. 1, Converter shop No. 1 complex, hot rolling shop.
The design for Karaganda metallurgical plant, as well as for a number of objects of blast furnace №1 NLMK.
In 1968, the Department of ventilation started to design objects for the "Elektrostal", "Sibelectrostal", Iran (Isfahan), India.
Machinery-building department was created. Construction of non-standard equipment became its main function.
Its purpose was to provide the regulatory and technical basis for design, control standards and metrological control of project documentation.
The Department was entrusted with the project Reconstruction of Converter shop № 1, which resulted in increase in the productivity of the shop from 2.2 to 4 million tons of steel per year by 1975.
Besides the projects the institute performed for NLMK, it was involved into design works for Azovmash's department unodomani desulphurization, ATS 2000 for Moscow's steel plant Serp and molot as well as for Helwan steel plant's heaters No. 1,2,3. There were also social project s for the city-Silicate plant-building for the production of cellular concrete products, station for receiving, sorting and briquetting of municipal solid waste.
On the 1 February 1974 on the basis of Gipromez's Electrical engineering department and automatic and measurement Department (now ACS) was created. KIPiA Department was responsible for the development of documentation equipment facilities automation systems of varying degrees of complexity, including local automation systems, engineering monitoring and development of automated process control systems APCS on the orders of technological and network departments in accordance with the technical requirements of the customer.
Lipetsk Gipromez changes its building. The new one includes a canteen, perfomance hall, garages, etc.
Lipetsk Gipromez performs its projects not only in the USSR but also in India, Bulgary, Egypt.
In 1977 engineers formed a group of engineering designs automation.
Lipetsk Gipromez performed the design of several structures for Tulachermet, Chusovoy metallurgical plant, metallurgical plant "Aryamehr" (Iran) and CCC-2 and the complex DP No. 6 NLMK.
Lipets Gipromez performed the design of several structures for Oskol metallurgical plant, Tulachermet, Lipetskenergo and also for CCC-2, blast-furnace No. 1 cold rolling mill carbon steel NLMK.
Designed for Lipetsk: the building of local lore Museum, musical fountain on the Boulevard on Lenin street, track and field athletics arena.
Lipetsk branch of Gipromez became one of the largest design institutes in the region with more than 630 people. It performed design works for Novolipetsk such as unique objects as blast furnaces №4, 5, 6, oxygen-Converter shops №1 and №2, sheet rolling shops (hot and cold rolling), sinter machine complexes №3 and №4, coke oven batteries №5-8, as well as a number of environmental facilities.
The branch participated in the design of objects kremikovskogo metallurgical plant (Bulgaria) and the metallurgical plant in Visakhapatnam in India.
Gipromez performed the design for KCC-2, blast furnace №6 and CHPP-PVS NLMK, as well as for Moscow's metallurgical plant Serp and Molot and Tulachermet.
Since 1982 Equipment acquisition department was involved into ordering of all necessary equipment at Soyuzglavmetallurgcomplect for all complexes of the Novolipetsk.
The design of facilities for Krivorozhstal, Tulachermet, Moscow coke and gas plant, Shchelkovo sheet rolling plant, steel plant in Vizakhapatnam (India), as well as for NLMK's facilities.
The design for Lipetsk tractor plant, Kosogorsk metallurgical plant, Moscow coke and gas plant, as well as for NLMK's facilities in blast furnace production were carried out.
Gipromez performed projects for Matyrskiy water reservoir sanatorium, CHP-2 Lipetskenergo, objects, Lipetsk tractor plant, Elektrostal plant, Moscow Metallurgical plant Serp and molot, Oskol electrometallurgical plant, Moscow tube plant, steel plant im. Lenin (Bulgaria), of a steel tubing factory in the city Septemvri (Bulgaria). The branch participated in the design of NLMK facilities: blast furnace, steelmaking and rolling industries.
Gipromez completed projects for the Karaganda metallurgical combine, Shchelkovsky sheet rolling plant, Kremikovtsi steel plant (Bulgaria).
Designed for facilities metallurgical plant "Sarkanais Metalurgs" (Latvia), the Karaganda metallurgical combine, Sulin metallurgical plant, NPO Tulachermet, the Cherepovets metallurgical combine, the Tsentrolit plant, Lipetsk tractor plant.
The Institute participated in designing of the Helwan steel plant (Egypt), as well as for Rustavi metallurgical plant Oskol electric works, Kosogorsky metallurgical plant, Moscow pipe plant, Lipetsk tractor plant and objects of social sphere.
The branch took part in the design works for Kostomukshynsky GOK, Tulachermet, Svobodny Sokol plant and blast furnace of Novolipetsk.
The branch took part in the design works of Egyptian largest metallurgical plant, Helwan steel plant as well as object of Tulachermet, Svobodny Sokol plant and Serp and molot plant, Cherepovets steel plant and social infrastructure of Lipetsk and Lipetsk region.
Projects on expansion of the production of universal tractors Lipetsk tractor plant, completed projects of residential buildings 27 district Lipetsk.
In June 1993 the Lipetsk branch of Gipromez was transformed into an independent state company Lipetsky Gipromez. The headcount was 400 people.
Since June 1994 the Company has been the general designer of the main facilities of Novolipetsk Steel.
On 10 June 1994 it was transformed into an open joint-stock company.
The branch took part in the design of facilities for the plant of refrigerators Stinol, Gryazinsky cultivator plant, South-West boiler city Lipetsk, as well as for NLMK in refractory, blast furnace and steel industries.
On 1 May 1996 Metallurgical Department No. 1 was renamed to Blast Furnace Department. The most important and major design facility was and still is NLMK. Blast Furnace Department took part in projects on the overhaul of blast furnaces No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and others.
Gipromez expandid its client's pool. The institute completed the project on building a plant for recycling of household waste, expanded Dobrinskiy sugar factory.
The first large order after the crisis, NLMK became the project of the replacement of turbine generator No. 1 at CHPP-PVS. In parallel work on capital repairs and modernization of blast furnace production was conducted. Design of reconstruction of TP No. 4 was carried out in the shortest possible time and went simultaneously with its installation.
In 1999, the department of master layout began to develop projects on the design of sanitary protection areas of enterprises of the city and the region.
In 1999, the electrotechnical department received an order for completely unconventional work for those times: “Cogeneration Plant. Replacement of turbine generator No. 1 with a capacity of 25 MW”. Previously, such works were carried out only by specialized design organizations, like the Kiev and Moscow Teploenergoproekt institutes. After the successful commissioning of TG-1, orders were received for the reconstruction and construction of new turbine generators.
The experts of the branch joined in the implementation of plans for the technical revamping of Novolipetsk Steel, aimed at improving processes, replacing equipment with a more modern one to increase the competitiveness of the plant's products both on the domestic and foreign markets.
A set of works was performed in BOF shops No. 1 and No. 2: ladle metallurgy furnaces and others.
A number of technically complex NLMK facilities have been completed: reconstruction of heating furnaces at the hot-rolled shop, reconstruction of the continuous casting machine, construction of ladle furnace units and a number of other extraordinary facilities.
Lipetsk Gipromez is included in the Russian unified register of the Federal Licensing Centre of the Russian State Committee for Construction
Rolling department No. 3 is engaged in the construction of HDGL-3 at NLMK, the blast furnace department is engaged in the overhaul of the blast furnaces infrastructure.
The Board of Directors approved measures to improve the efficiency and quality of design for 2005 and subsequent years.
In 2005, the department of master layouts carried out the design of social facilities: the development of red lines of Lipetsk streets, the reconstruction of the highway on Studenovskaya Street, took an active part in selecting a site for the free economic area.
The department for inspection of building structures, based on the construction department, started its independent work. The work was carried out in two areas: Technical inspection of building structures and carrying out of examination of industrial safety of dangerous objects. Computerization of the designers’ workplaces the was completed, the park of multiplying equipment was updated, the computer-aided design system is being rolled out.
Since 2007, the design is carried out in AutoCAD and Compass 3D. The blast-furnace department begins to design a complex of a new blast furnace No. 7, which later will be named "Rossiyanka".
The new complex has created 1580 additional workplaces, 268 of which directly support the Blast Furnace No. 7 operations. The new furnace was put into operation in 2011. This is the largest construction of this scale in Russia in 25 years.
In the 2008 All-Russian competition TOP 120 best design and survey organizations, Lipetsky Gipromez was ranked No. ten among organizations with a volume of contract work between 0.5 and 1.0 billion rubles.
Since January 2008, due to the increased volume of design and construction.
Since 2009, Lipetsky Gipromez has a license to carry out activities for the examination of buildings and structures at hazardous production facilities.
Since 2009, a number of machine engineering projects have been designed in Autodesk Inventor Professional.
In June 2010, the specialists of the Design Department of NLMK were admitted to the JSC "Lipetsk Gipromez" in the departments: non-standardized equipment, rolling department No. 3, steel-making department No. 2, construction department No. 3. The structure of the Institute consists of 35 units for various purposes.
The Company purchased a laser scanner 3-D Leica ScanStation C10. In a short time, the Company's employees were trained to work with the scanner.
Lipetsky Gipromez awarded the first class diploma of the winner of the VII All-Russian competition for the best design, survey organization or a similar company.
Lipetsky Gipromez becomes the largest institute of the Central Black Earth Region in the design of industrial and civil facilities, with a headcount of close to 600 employees.
By Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin dated 19 March 2013 "For labour achievements and long-term conscientious work", Valery Khaybullin, general director of Lipetsk Gipromez, was awarded a second-class medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland
In April 2014 NLMK Group's Vice President of Investment Projects initiated the development of operational efficiency program for Lipetsk Gipromez
The main strategic goals and areas of development until 2018 are identified. The programme is aimed to provide necessary tools and operational solutions for the strategy implementation.
December, 2016 the company’s corporate name was changed to JSC NLMK-Engineering. The new recognizable logotype became a visiting card of a new image which as well reflects the fact that the NLMK-Engineering product is an engineering idea embodied in calculations, models and drawings of the future projects. The new logotype is a symbol of changeover for the company’s employees.
During the course of four days, NLMK-Engineering's persons in charge and professionals took part in business meetings and talks with the participants of the largest international business event of the steel industry, discussing key issues and prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation. More than 50 meetings were held with enterprises, suppliers of the core technical equipment and engineering companies.
November 17 is the date of signing the General Agreement between NLMK-Engineering and Chinese company WIZDRI on strategic cooperation for the development of basis engineering, project and working documentation while concluding the equipment procurement contracts. The Agreement covers the designing of facilities for reconstruction and development of the steelmaking industry in Russia.
Since December 2018 NLMK-Engineering`s branch- UralNIIAS- in Ekaterinburg has been included into the company`s structure. The branch will provide the design engineering in Ural working sites of NLMK Group and the facilities of Altai-Koks.
A separate NLMK – Engineering`s mining division, consisting of three working groups – a designing group with general designer`s functions, a group of repairs and a land surveyor group, was found at Stoilensky GOK.
