Revamping of NLMK's BF-6 facilities
Concept-based engineering provides for the renovation of BF-6 in 2016 and its overhaul with the full reconstruction of the Blast Furnace in 2019.
The purpose of renovation is partial replacement of the most worn out items of equipment and materials of the blast furnace with an aim to extend its operation period until the major overhaul with full reconstruction. Based on the conceptual and basic engineering, the working documentation on renovation was developed. Repair work was carried out in October 2016.
The purpose of the overhaul with the full reconstruction of BF-6 is a complete replacement of the blast furnace with its dismantling and the construction of a new furnace instead. At the same time, the working volume of the furnace will be increased, new and modern equipment for smelting and casting of pig iron will be installed increasing the design productivity of the furnace, improving the quality of products, reducing repair costs and unscheduled downtime of its equipment.
